Jay D. Watson

Born in Regina but raised in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Jay has a diverse litigation practice, but focuses primarily on Criminal Defence, Civil Litigation, and Administrative Law. He regularly appears in trials dealing with both criminal and civil matters, at preliminary inquiries, in Queen’s Bench Chamber’s, and before administrative tribunals. He has appeared as counsel before all levels of Saskatchewan Court, Federal Court, Federal Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada. In addition, Jay has appeared before the Saskatchewan Labour Relations Board, the Automobile Injury Appeal Commission, the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Commission, the Saskatchewan Real Estate Board, the Saskatchewan Human Rights Commission, the Canadian Human Rights Commission, the Canada Pension Plan Review Tribunal, and various other disciplinary boards regarding professionals, including doctors, chiropractors, lawyers, psychologists, police officers, accountants, agrologists and insurance agents.

Jay is a former Bencher of the Law Society of Saskatchewan.

Jay has been recognized for his exceptional abilities and is rated by his peers as having a very high legal ability and high ethical standards, receiving a “BV Peer Review” Rating by Martindale-Hubbell.

Jay has acted as an instructor with the CPLED Saskatchewan Bar Admission Course, as a presenter with Saskatchewan Legal Education Society of Saskatchewan Inc., (SKLESI), Public Legal Education Society of Saskatchewan (PLEA), and is a member of the Law Society of Saskatchewan, the Canadian Bar Association, the Saskatchewan Trial Lawyers Association, and the Saskatoon Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. Jay is the Treasurer President of the Saskatchewan Trial Lawyers Association.

Jay is actively involved in his community and has served as a member of the Board of Directors for a number of community organizations. He also enjoys a number of recreational sports and activities, including poker, pool, weight-lifting and golf. Jay has three children and resides in Saskatoon.
